The name Tanhua stems from the Udumbara flower in Buddhism. As a metaphor, it implies that listening to the true teachings of Buddha is rare and difficult. This Gatha poem was composed, while the Tanhua was blooming, inspired by the recitation of Buddhis Sutras.
優曇缽羅花, 千秋聞佛法。夏月滿天星, 清淨夜芳華。風拂法雨墜, 絲絲入心靡。時光瞬息凝, 馥馥千萬歲。
